If they stand the test of time, I'll be very happy.

Tired of spending $80+ every winter on new Christmas lights that would burn out or die within a few months, I've decided to try the Govee lights. With a 3 year warranty, I'm hoping to have a much better experience.

Pros: relatively easy to install, very bright (I run mine at 50% brightness and they're still as bright as any other Christmas lights on the street), power supply on both kits (50ft and 100ft kits) were the same as the 150ft kit (so decently over powered and shouldn't burn out any time soon), app is fairly intuitive and setup was easy.

Cons: 3M tape sticks well to the house, not very well to the lights, Govee could make the backing of each light more textured for better adhesion I think. Only comes with enough screw clips for about 1 every other light. Given how crucial alignment is for good looking lights, I want at least 1 per light. Had to buy some random clips from Amazon to finish putting them up. I strongly suggest Govee not cheap out on this and just throw in another 2-3 dozen little plastic clips in each kit. Not a big fan of how visible these lights are, a light grey tone or beige would have been nice to blend in with the soffits better.

And my biggest complaint by far: you can't buy blank extensions for this! If you have multiple gables and want to run an extension between each without lights, you're going to need to DIY one. The 100ft kit comes with 1 such extension and the 150ft kit apparently comes with two, but none in the 50ft kit and can't buy them by themselves.

I also wish there were 2 outputs on the power supply. My power outlet is near the center of the house, so I had to buy 2 kits to run lights in each direction from the outlet.
Just what I always wanted

I bought these to replace some string lights that we had that stopped working last year. I figured I would make one big purchase to get high quality lights that I'll never have to mess with again, at least not while I live in this house.
Installation:
Make sure you use alcohol to clean and dry the spot you're about to stick the lights before you stick them up and they hold up pretty well. I've heard that the adhesive can fail in humid climates (on reddit so take that with a grain of salt) so I downloaded a 3D print file for a bracket that allows you to screw them to the soffit instead of just relying on the adhesive. If you live in a normally dry climate then you may not have any problems. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'd rather be proactive with what could potentially go wrong. If you have a porch and you're putting the lights along the front of the eave of the porch then just the one 12ft extension that's included for going between floors won't be enough. See below.
The app:
The app is super easy to use and adding or editing the lights is very easy to do in the app. You can rely solely on the app or you can use Alexa/Google to control the lights (minimally) as well. To change the color or set specific lights up you have to use that app but if you just want to turn the lights off or on then you can use Alexa for that.
The lights:
The lights themselves are very bright and well built. They don't feel like they are going to fall apart or break.
One complaint:
The one complaint that I had is that in the 100ft string there is one "jumper" to go from one floor to the next. It's a section that's about 12 feet long that has no lights. That didn't work for me because I have a porch and put the lights at the front edge of the porch. I would have needed 2 of the extensions in order to get to the second floor with no lights on the side of the house. Yyou can't just buy the extension from Govee either. If you want another extension you have to take to eBay and hope someone is selling one they didn't need in order to buy one. People are charging upwards of $70 just for that one piece because they know they are so hard to come by. If you have a porch, I recommend just buying the 150-foot string and planning to either keep spares of the lights or sell the strands that you don't use to recoup some of your costs. Alternatively you can do what I did and just put lights facing outward that go up the side of the house. Other than that, everything was great.
False Advertising

Calling the 16’ light string an “extension” is false advertising! While you can only use it with the 50’ and 100’ sets, according to their CS, you can’t add them to the sets to extend them another 16’. According to CS when I tried to add it to a 100’ set and had problems (that ended up not being related to the additional string), it’s not an extension, as they claim the 100’ power supply will only work up to 100’ and not more, therefore, there’s no such thing as an “extension.” It’s a replacement string, not an extension and its description should be reworded. Either that, or CS needs to stop claiming it won’t work to extend beyond the length of the 50’ and 100’ sets, because it actually does. Pros who install the lights for others confirmed that the power supplies for the 50’, 100’ and 150’ sets are the same.

That being said, thankfully, their CS is wrong. After replacing a bad string, I now have 116’ working on a 100’ power supply and controller with no data issues. I’m also using a 4’ pro jump cable without issue, which they also said couldn’t be done, when others told me it can. The only good thing CS did was to refund me for both my orders, without asking for me to return anything. Whether that is because they know they’re misrepresenting their product on their site, I don’t know, but they were very quick to offer a refund, which makes me suspicious. I love the lights, the app is so-so and not intuitive. If it weren’t for a Facebook group I’m in, I wouldn’t know I could use other people’s DIYs.
LOVE THESE LIGHTS!

I have been using Govee products for 2 years now, and love the quality and control of the products. They are super bright (which you can easily control) and the app is incredibly easy to use. I bought several Govee products to dress the outside of my house and I absolutely love them! They look stunning! My neighbours have asked me about these as well and two of them have put them up as well because of how good they look. I put these all around the soffits of my house on both levels, and they are amazing! I love how the app is so user friendly and come with so many pre-done effects. At Xmas I was able to change the patterns every few days with pre-made effects that are Xmas themed... at New Years, I changed it up to be more celebratory and they looked fantastic. I then switched them up to replicate natural light and inside our home it looked light daylight through the windows in the middle of the night. (I since changed them as they are quite bright and we like sleeping in the dark haha).

I love how you can control the lights, in groups, and create automations to sync up different effects.

Great quality product! Great company. Great customer support from Govee when I needed it. I love this brand.

(This is not a paid ad or review - I truly am a very satisfied consumer of their products).
